Currently the only foilboard that we're aware of that's globally available is the
Carafino M9X.
There are official distributors in some countries but if you don't have a local distributor you can order directly from the website : http://www.carafino.com
For those of you who have apprehensions about ordering from the internet - rest assured, in my limited experience no problem what so ever.
The boards we ordered arrived within 7 days via DHL direct to my door.
The Carafino comprises a Carbon 3 piece foil - very beautiful looking piece of design and production
A choice of boards that are fixed to the foil via SS bolts
The only other board we're currently aware of is the
Rush Randle ripper or cruiser - you can check them out at : http://www.neilprydemaui.com
These boards come in various lengths and the 3 part foil is made from aluminum paint finished or anodised.
I'm sure this is equally as sexy as the carbon foil of Carafino but not having seen it - can not comment.
There is an option to chose a shorter length foil which makes a difference to the complexity of riding - anyone who could expand on this would be greatly welcomed
Not sure if this is the same technology that Rush Randle is using as the board names are the same : http://www.skyski.com
Specific waterski hydrofoil with the boards appearing to be much shorter and graphically different.
The Synapse Splitwave twintip hydrofoil is a project that is currently undergoing development in the UK : http://www.synapsekitesurfing.co.uk
The board is not currently on sale but we believe the principal is very much based on a twin tip approach so gibing or riding toe side is not an essential.
Don't forget if you order direct you may also incur Custom Tax / Import Duty which can be as much as an additional 30%
Buying from your local dealer is a good option as they will usually be able to offer you back up support and tips on how and where to ride it
The current 2009 board prices are listed as :
Carafino - 1200 USD
Rush Randle - from 1995 USD
If anyone knows of any other hydrofoil boards coming onto the market please post the information ASAP
