FIRST FOIL

Welcome to the forum, we are two friends Cadiz in southern Spain, we make surfboards, paddleboard and boardkites. We have never built a hydrofoil.
We have found this forum and by Franck24 Peck for their knowledge and have begun to make a hydrofoil and we'll put step by step as we have built. Thank you. Franck and Peck for your support.

Hi Juanlu,

I would advise you to make the chord of your vertical leg much shorter - it looks from the images that the junction at the base and at the top of your leg is much too big - if you make a mold from your balsa plug you can go much finer. You can even keep the leg chord length the same from top to bottom. The down side to your current plug will be that the chord length will effect its turning ability. The general rule is the finer you can make the elements that glide through the water, the less drag you will have.

Now there are lots of other considerations but if you make it really beefy (oversized) its performance may be hindered drastically.
